The Building AdVent Project is now closed

The Building AdVent project came to a close in August 2009. All results and materials produced are final. However, the project continues with its primary aim of disseminating information on good practice low energy ventilation technologies in European buildings. This website will remain active until August 2011 (at least) so that all project materials, particularly the produced brochures and powerpoints, can be accessed and downloaded.

Background

It is now widely accepted that the general consumption of energy must be reduced in order to limit the damaging effects of climate change. In buildings, the energy consumed by fans and wasted in ventilation losses accounts for almost 10% of the energy use in the EU. About one third of this could be saved through improved ventilation systems.

The Building AdVent project aimed to disseminate information on 18 non-domestic buildings that are examples of successfully implemented low energy ventilation systems. The buildings are located in countries spread across the three major climatic regions of Europe- those with moderate heating and cooling loads and those with high heating loads.

The project was developed through discussions between the partners involved. It has been funded by the Executive Agency for Competiveness and Innovation (EACI), formerly the Intelligent Energy (IEEA).
